Skillsmarket rebrands as iProfile and intensifies drive to displace the traditional CV
(28/05/2008)

London, 28th May 2008: UK-based online CV provider Skillsmarket announces today that it will adopt the name of its flagship product, iProfile, as its new trading name. The rebrand marks the beginning of an aggressive phase of growth for iProfile which will see it launch a new consumer-focused offering, add new product features and extend into new sectors and international markets.

Rick Bacon, Chief Executive, iProfile, said "Today is the start of an exciting new chapter in the company's development as we build on our position as the industry standard for online CVs. We're planning on doing for the recruitment process what iTunes has done for the world of music: revolutionise it for the better."

More than 2.5 million people in the UK already have an iProfile - an online CV that gives them a single, safe place on the web to record all of their achievements and connect with recruiters when they're looking for work. The iProfile is fast becoming the industry standard for online CVs and is loved by recruiters because it automatically formats candidate information in a way that enables them to match jobseekers to the right opportunities more effectively. More than 2,500 recruiters already use the iProfile, representing tens of thousands of job vacancies.

As part of the rebrand, iProfile has created a new website www.iprofile.org where jobseekers can create an iProfile as well as get advice on the jobseeking process. The website will be launched to consumer audiences in June, as the company begins a drive to attract more jobseekers, including graduates, across a wide range of sectors.

Bacon comments: "Over the last few years, we've won over recruiters with a product that's proven to drive productivity gains, by helping them cut costs, save time and greatly enhance the freshness of their candidate database. Now we're taking our message direct to jobseekers as well - showing how iProfile can help them get the job they want more quickly. Already 16% of the professional working population have an iProfile, but now we're now going after the rest by making our product more jobseeker-friendly and feature rich."

The iProfile product has been enhanced with a range of new features including:

  • Streamlined iProfile build and share - it's now easier than ever for jobseekers to import existing information from other sources to build their iProfile and to then share their iProfile with recruitment companies automatically, saving time and effort when looking for jobs. Shortly, iProfile holders will also be able to use their iProfile on multiple job-boards.
  • Feedback function - jobseekers are now able to track job applications and view the activity summary of all interactions with their iProfile, including who has viewed it and how often, as well as direct comments from recruiters.
  • Skills match - candidates can select the skill sets appropriate to them, ensuring they are quickly and accurately identified by recruiters searching their candidate databases.

iProfile will be expanding its international presence, beginning with a move into the Asia Pacific market to partner with major recruitment companies that will adopt the iProfile as their preferred online CV format. And to support the growth, iProfile has invested in new offices in London's Holborn, as well as making a number of strategic hires, including the appointment of former head of marketing for Yahoo! Search, UK & Ireland, Karl Gregory, as Marketing Director.

Bacon concludes: "Our ambition is to streamline the recruitment process for both jobseekers and recruiters and the investments we're making now will allow us to realise that vision in new sectors and geographies. We are well on our way to achieving our goal of displacing the weak link in the recruitment process - the traditional CV - and bringing jobseeking into the 21st century."

About iProfile

iProfile is the dynamic profile for professionals that is rapidly replacing the traditional CV by increasing the chances of a candidate being selected for interview. It is the preferred CV format for many recruitment agencies, and is easy to set up and update. More secure than a Word CV, professionals can control who sees their iProfile, and update multiple recruitment agencies and other career services, giving them complete control over the job-seeking process.

An iProfile provides a unique mechanism to improve communications between candidates and recruiters or hiring managers via a feedback and tracking dashboard. Any updates made to an iProfile are instantly transmitted to the network of all the iProfile-compatible recruitment companies and organisations (such as job-boards), ensuring they never hold an out-of-date copy of an individual's professional profile. Over 2.5 million jobseekers already own an iProfile and this number is rising rapidly.
