Alex Charles, Founder and Product Director of SkillsMarket,
is speaking at this week's Recruitment International's conference
in Manchester, where he will explore the rapid increase of
online CVs. It is estimated that over a billion CVs are now
stored online across a range of services from job boards to
professional and social networks.
A new central pillar of the Internet is being formed around
Career Management and is soon to take its place alongside
the established giants of News, Shopping, Email, Social and
Financial. This development will have a profound impact on
the staffing sector; it will challenge conventional market
models and pose new challenges in the areas of data management
and security.
Unlike other domains, the Career and CV domain contains vast
amounts of data contributed by the user, much of which is
personal and sensitive data. This poses new challenges for
integration and security.
As one of the founding directors of the European HR-XML consortium
for Europe, which promotes the standard XML schema use throughout
the HR community, Alex will also discuss the role of HR-XML
and other standards in bringing solutions to some of these
challenges.
Alex also chairs the ATSCo IT Director's Forum, where common
strategic IT, product and service issues are discussed, and
is becoming a well known speaker in the industry on recruitment
data issues.
SkillsMarket will also be exhibiting at the show, giving
recruitment companies based in the north the opportunity to
see a demonstration of our award-winning resourcing tool,
iPlace.
